Diemen Pepper Company gathers spicy Native Tasmanian Pepper Berries and Leaves in areas of high altitude and high rainfall on the island of Tasmania.
The Tasmanian Mountain Pepperberry is a berry, not a peppercorn. A spicy berry with a very elegant floral aroma and a smooth "heat". An elegant heat that takes off smoothly and lands just as smoothly. Very different from most other "pepper".
Evolved from the flora of ancient Gondwanaland, and now found in the cool Temperate rainforests of Tasmania, native pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata) yields the spicy and aromatic leaves and berries used in Diemen Pepper products.
Use it for preparing savories and soups, vinaigrettes, ice cream jellies, candy, pasta, and game, etc.
The art of using Diemen Pepper is still evolving. With a range of preparations - dried and fresh; whole, flaked and milled; leaves and berries; even a new flavored olive oil, the possibilities are endless.
In addition to Tasmanian Native pepper berry, Diemen Pepper sources roasted wattle seed, lemon-myrtle, and several other natural spices.
All will add an Australian taste to any dish.
